TATA LOADBETA 4X4 PICK UP PICKUP - LOW LOW MILEAGE - LONG TAX & MOT - Veg Oil : Whitehaven : £1,495

2002 TATA LOADBETA 4X4 PICK UP – VERY LOW MILAGE – LONG TAX AND MOT
DIESEL / VEG OIL CONVERTED

For sale ONLY because my supply of veg oil is longer available. The truck is still in use and the pictures reflect this – no tarting up. You can see that it is in daily use – nothing to hide.

HISTORY

The pick up has only one former keeper, a private estate in the Scottish borders, it was used as a second vehicle for maintenance, logging and other on site duties with the occasional trip up into Scotland. This means when I bought it, it had covered only 8,500 miles!

MY OWNERSHIP

I bought it in August 2010 and due to having no service history (all works were carried out on site). I changed all the fluids and all the belts including the cambelt and converted it to run on vegetable oil. Since then I have done 10,500 mile almost exclusively on veg oil.

The pick up has been 'used' but not 'abused' – there is a difference:

I have used it for towing, but only a small trailer with machinery or motorbikes or rubbish locally – NOT a caravan around Europe or two ½ ton horses up and down the country.

I have used it off road, but over fields to fix gates and fences – NOT axle deep in oil and mud, through forests up steep angles at full revs.

CONDITION

The pick up has scratches and chips on most panels, but no real dents, there are small patches or rust, but these things are carved from granite and they haven't got any worse during my ownership. The interior is worn but functional and the seats are surprisingly comfy. The only fault to mention is the heater fan only works on the fastest speed, I looked at the switch and cleaned it but it made no difference so I have just lived with it, not really a problem.

All the 4X4 system (with front auto hubs) works as it should and as I use it regularly is not clunky or seized etc. While I've owned it I have replaced the radiator ( went to go to work on 21st Dec 2010 after overnight temperatures of -17 to find the rad had split along the top seam due to freezing – so much for antifreeze). The veg oil conversion is a single tank system consisting of a preheater and heater exchange fuel pipe running full length form the tank to the fuel filter. It has run faultlessly and like most engines is actually smoother and quieter on veg oil. You can run on diesel or veg oil or any kind of mix of the two. I tend to thin a tank of veg oil with £10 of diesel, more when temp drops below 0.

For those not familiar with them here is some info to best of my knowledge:

Engine: Peugeot 1.9TD XD11 (cira 1984-1998 technology)
Gearbox & Transfer box: Mercedes
Rear Axle: Mazda B series pick up
Brakes: Rover

It comes with:

Rare genuine Ifor Wiliams canopy.
ABS Load Liner
Original load cover should you wish to take it off.
All the parts to return it to diesel only (no idea why you would).

It has the usual Tata things. The gearbox can be a bit 'notchy' in colder weather first thing until the oil warms up. The exhaust rumbles if you take a right hand bend really fast due to whoever put the cat section on put it at too great an angle so it vibrates against the chassis! The indicators do not self turn off. The horn works when it feels like it (during the MOT it worked – so passed).

CONDITIONS OF SALE

Viewing is welcome. The vehicle is located in West Cumbria.
